Nikisha & Alex’s Wedding at Pencoed House
There is something magical about the first signs of spring in Wales. After a string of grey, rainy days, the clouds finally parted on Saturday, February 28th, for Nikisha and Alex’s wedding at Pencoed House. As if on cue for their special day, the daffodils had just begun to bloom, basking the grounds in a beautiful, golden spring glow.
The Gatehouse Morning
The day began at the Gatehouse. Nikisha was joined by her two Maids of Honor and her parents, who had flown all the way from India to be part of the celebrations.
The vibe was relaxed and radiant. Farhana Ali handled the hair and makeup beautifully, and Nikisha proved you don’t need a designer price tag to look lush! Their stunning dresses were from Shein, showing that style is all about how you wear it!
Ceremony @ The Old Hall
The bridal party were then whisked off to the Old Hall via golf buggies
When Nikisha entered on her father’s arm, Alex’s tearful reaction reminded everyone exactly why they were there.
Moments like these are why I love what I do. As a photographer, I don’t believe in manufactured drama; I believe in being a calm, observant presence so that the real story can unfold. For couples like Nikisha and Alex who are naturally camera-shy, my goal is always to be the person who makes them feel at ease, which means fading into the background so they can focus on each other while I capture the magic as it happens.
"Camera-Shy" Couple Photos
Nikisha and Alex were very open about being camera-shy. They chose to skip the high-pressure traditions like the confetti walk and the first dance, a decision I fully support. Your wedding should be a "comfort zone," not a performance!
We then slipped away for a 15-minute stroll through the gardens. With the daffodils out and the sun shining, I focused on natural prompts rather than stiff poses:
- The Goal: Get them talking, joking, and walking together.
- The Result: Authentic smiles where they forgot I was even there.
Details, Details, Details...
While the couple enjoyed cocktail hour, I captured the gorgeous setup by Simply Elegant and the elegant cake by Bella Cakes. I even managed to sneak away during the meal to edit and print a few "Polaroid-style" photos as a surprise gift for the couple to look at before the night was over.
Speeches
The speeches were a highlight of the evening:
- The Maid of Honor: A heartfelt and funny story of the couple's origins.
- Nikisha’s Father: Stole the show with his incredible wit and jokes.
- Alex’s Father & Best Man (his brother): Provided the perfect balance of sentiment and laughs.
- The Groom: Alex wrapped it up perfectly, admitting he never saw himself as the "marrying type"—until he met Nikisha.
As Serenity Sounds kicked off the party, the transition from a crisp spring day to a warm evening celebration was complete.
